The Purple Ribbon

As promised, here are a few pictures of a wreck I had in 1994…and “the Purple Ribbon.”

  1. What a difference a brush with death has on one especially when you’re in the hospital for several days. You have lots of time to really think about your creator and how lucky you are to be alive. Look at what has taken place since then; your beautiful family, the people you have touched with your ministry. We should all have Jesus.

  2. Man…. That was the second time I saw Dad cry was after he saw you in the hospital. (The first was when Roberto Clemente died, so you’re in good company.)

  3. From the wife of a dad who reads your letters. Thank you for the reminder that “HE IS ENOUGH…“I needed that. May God continue to bless your family and all that you are doing..

  4. I thank God He pulled you through that ordeal! Your ministry has been a real blessing to me, my family and other Dads that I know. Thank you Jesus!

  5. Almost looks like a catchers mask (bottom left photo). You got SMACKED good. God’s plans are not always ours, but His are always better in the long run. You must have been a “young dad” around that time. Glad to see you are looking better.

  6. So glad the Lord has allowed you to stick around a while longer so the rest of us can be encouraged and learn to laugh at ourselves sometimes! Blessings to you and your family Todd.

  7. Yes, He is enough…as I battled with throat cancer in the last year and coming that close to death, I have found that His plans are the best even if we don’t measure up all the time!

  8. Thanks Todd for sharing your life and stories with us. Last September I was in Macedonia on a mission trip with my church in the bottom of a 16 foot deep ditch when it collapsed. Instantly 2 macedonian men i had worked with for the last 10 days were buried 12 feet deep. My friend and I were able to escape but God really got our attention. I have learned to cherish every hug from my wife and kids (4 of them from 5 to 21) God is good all of the time.

  9. Our family was in a serious accident a couple of years ago, we almost lost 2 of our kids and the rest of us suffered some not-so-fun injuries—-It is so good to remember that God is Good—ALL the time!

  10. One more thanks, Todd, for your weekly admonition to be “Da Dad”! This letter is definitely my favorite of all! The message that came through is to keep on keeping on!

  11. HI Todd,
Thanks for your ministry to us dads in your weekly email. I needed the purple ribbon letter since I am about to lose my job, have a daughter in college and 4 more kids at home. In my profession, there are 10000 ppl vying for 300 jobs in the USA, so I am looking overseas, praying that the Lord will shut doors if that is not right for us as a family, (as much as it appeals to my adventurous spirit). You hit the nail on the head so many times in your letters, I wonder if you have a hidden camera in our house. God bless. Andy
