Greetings from Albaquor… Albeqwarky… that place in New Mexico
It’s amazing how much ground you can cover in a week. Right now we’re parked at the Amarillo Ranch RV Park in Amarillo, TX. Yesterday, we were freezing as we traveled away from St. Louis, and tonight we have the windows open and are enjoying a warm spring breeze.
Things have gone pretty swell. Just an hour ago, I replaced the leaky valve on the toilet, and we have not developed any other leaks…which is good. This would be a good time to remind you rookie RVers not to let your black water tanks (which is a nice way to say your sewer tanks) get too full…like we did.
We were backed up all the way to just below the bowl…and it wasn’t pretty…or good smelling. Fortunately, we had our handy dandy Flying J directory and found one just a 100 miles down the road.
While we were there, I topped off the fuel tank and calculated that I got very close to if not over 10 miles per gallon, which feels like driving a hybrid in the old RV world.
Tomorrow, we plan to arrive in Albuquer…Alberbau…that place in New Mexico. We hope to see a few sights and get ready for a long homeschool convention that starts on Thursday.
Afterwards, we’re off to see some friends who work and live on a Hopi Reservation in Arizona, take a gander at the Grand Canyon, and then drive to El Paso, TX.
Thanks for praying for us. I can’t tell you how much that means to us. I still feel a little tense about the new RV and pray each time I turn the key.
PS — Last week we stopped at the St. Louis Arch and camped at Harmonie State Park in Evansville, IN. While we were there we goofed off and celebrated Cal’s birthday (2).

Honk if you’re a Familyman!
Consider a tram ride to the top of Sandia Mts. They’re beautiful and smell amazing
Todd,
Are you going to be in Columbus in June?
We’re praying and admiring you! What fun it is out there – seeing your pics and living them with you. I thought the elevator pods at the arch were a little too cozy though…
Off to Maryland and Pennsylvania this weekend. See you at CHAP in a few weeks. Thanks so much for the link!
Let us know how long you stay at the Grand Canyon. I took my family last year and the kids looked at it for about 10 min. then they were ready for the next big thing. It reminded me of the movie Vacation w/ Chevy Chase. Luckily we had lots of other things planned for the trip. I think kids see such amazing things in movies now-a-days all the time so a giant hole in the ground is a bit ho-hum. We did make them hike down in it a mile or so then back up. That is Grand Canyon Appreciation 101!
Todd—Judy says your headed to ABQ, NM. Call Jill ((505) 323-2166) if you want some “places of interest.” They’re great at that.
Some great places to see in Albuquerque are Old Town (free), the Zoo and the Aquarium and the Tram. Don’t take the Tram if you are afraid of heights!! Our Zoo here is really great! We will see you at the convention!
It’s Albuquerque – I learned by remembering that there are TWO que’s in the word! ;o) We live in NM and we will see you at the convention in ALBUQUERQUE!!
We will miss you at the Springfield, MO conference this year. You are always on our comment cards as our favorite speaker. Good thing the stickers are firmly attached to the rearview mirrors and will hopefully adhere until next year:) Prayers for safe travels…The farrier (horseshoer) and his hero
I read your book about Lies homeschool moms tell themselves. Had several good belly laughs. Gave it to my wife and she liked it a lot too. Also, I asked her why she hasn’t been nagging me so much about finishing our basement before my son’s wedding She replied that something you said during a talk at Landmark, Cincinnati convicted her of her need to support me more. The basement WILL get done in time, but its nice to have encouragement rather than criticism. Makes me feel like we are on the same team again. Thanks for your ministry. You da’ dad, not me. Andy
