Greetings from New Mexico!

Hey Dad,

As some famous comedian used to say, “It’s always something.” That’s how it has been out on the road. Actually, the day I updated the blog last week I noticed some little cracks on the sidewalls of one of my RV tires. After a few calls I found a reasonably priced tire in Amarillo, TX. We drove there got the tired changed quickly and then I went to start the RV. It started, but it did something weird.

“Honey, I saw a Cummins engine place up the road, and I think we’d be wise to go have this checked out before we get on some mountain road,” I said to my wife.

She responded wonderfully and we headed over to Cummins. To make a long story short, they passed me off to some battery place that didn’t have time to look at my RV, but while I was there I figured out that it was the ignition switch.

One phone call later, we were headed to Jack Seisemore Traveland and a couple hours later we were back on the road.

God is good.

So now I’m sitting in the lobby of Calvary Church of Albuquerque typing this blog and getting ready to hit the road for a Hopi Reservation in Arizona to see some friends of ours.

The RV is running great and we were even greeted by Roy Ward and his boys in a Wal-Mart parking lot after arriving in town. Actually, it was pretty cool to be stopped in a “foreign country” and see the face of a fellow Familyman.

Roy told me that he was planning to throw a big ‘WELCOME FAMILYMAN’ banner off the edge of an overpass but had a dream the night before that he was hanging the banner, fell over the edge onto the road below, and was run-over by the Familyman Mobile. So he decided God didn’t want him to do the sign thing.

Good call, Roy.

Here’s a picture of Roy and his good looking sons—

Keep praying and look for us in a Wal-Mart near you.

Here are a few more pix—

Next convention stop, El Paso, TX.

You ‘da dad,

  1. Hey Todd,

You have inspired us to consider an RV trip this summer. Do the kids have to be strapped in their car seats at all times or can they run wild around the RV or in the case of our newest family member, can I nurse while the RV is barreling down the highway?

  2. My wife and I really missed seeing you at the Indiana Home School convention on the 18th+19th. Hope you and your family are able to make it next year and do some workshops. You always encourage us!!!

  3. Hey Todd, loved your last Familyman about it’s tough being married to a woman! LOL..we’ve all been in your shoes with the “ okay I’m sorry lets move on” thing! I appreciate your honesty, and tell your wife she is a good sport..hopefully we’ll run into you again at Disney world campgroud:-

  4. I was not at the Albuquerque Convention (up north in the mountains with my two boys) but my wife bought for me the CD of your talk. I thank her and you. Your right, men can hear something several times and it always seems fresh. I have listen to your presentation CD 4 times now just going back and forth from work each day this week. I have recommitted myself to my wife, our homeschooling, and our family.

    Thanks!

  5. Thanks so much for your funny, encouraging emails. After reading together, your most recent, (husbands asking what wife is feeling…) I mentioned to my husband that we were headed on the same path, me feeling neglected that is, to which he commented: “Buck-up”. He figured you got a few weeks out of that reply before getting all emotional, and thought that it sounded like he had a few extra days to hold off! 🙂
(seriously he is joking, I think.) We appreciate all your emails and love to see your pics and updates. Keep up the good work.

  6. What a pleasure it was to have you at the Albuquerque Convention and to meet your entire family. You totally encouraged and rejuvenated our homeschool. My kids are telling us all the time “it ain’t easy… but it’s G-ooo-d” using your same accent LOL!

If you’re ever in this area again I promise not to let my dh hang signs for you off the overpass (but I’m not sure I can keep him from hunting you down at a Walmart — please don’t put a restraining order on him LOL) Soooo good to have you in NM! Thanks for your inspiration! The entire Ward Family

  7. We really enjoyed the encouraging and humorous talks you gave at the Albuquerque conference! We were reminded of how we need to be “real” with each other and know that our mission is “good” even though it’s not easy. (our kids remind us of that often!)
My husband,Chris, talked to you and your wife about dropping by to see you and your family this summer since we’ll be in your neck of the woods.
That would add an extra highlight to our trip to say the least. Hajyra! (how ever it is spelled!)
What an awesome ministry you are doing! The Johnson Family

  8. Hey Todd! Thanks for coming to Albuquerque, dude, and inspiring the daylights out of us dads. Great book, by the way—Help, I’m Married to a Homeschooling Mom! Hope to see you again next year, God willing.
