Greetings from Sunny GA

Hey Dad,

Greetings from Commerce, GA. We’re taking showers at a Flying J as we make our way to Harrisburg, PA. It’s sunny and warm, and we’re loving it (after all the rain). While we were in Atlanta we stopped at the Jimmy Carter’s Presidential Museum.

Like all Presidential museums we all felt inspired at how normal guy rises to the level of president. With President Carter it was even more thrilling knowing that he is a real Christian. In fact, you can even stop in his church (Maranatha Baptist church) and listen to him teach Sunday school. He wasn’t teaching over Mother’s day…but he will be teaching the class this coming Sunday. Man, I wish we could hang around.

The day after the museum we visited the Martin Luther King Jr. National Park where we saw his birth home, the church where he pastured, and his tomb. Again, for this white Hoosier family it was inspiring.

After the MLK museum we stopped at The Varsity (the world’s largest drive-in). I’ve been wanting to stopped for several years and boy am I glad we did it. The food was good and the price right and it was loads of fun. Plus it’s right off I-85.

Well, that’s about all the news. Everything else seems to be running well…at least today.

For lots of pictures you can check out my son’s rv blog or see our Flikr photos.

Until next time…swing wide and keep your eye on your tail,

  1. Checked out your sons RV Blog- Great Pics!!! What is the Corn Palace?
The Varsity!! Great place to visit if you have the time in Atlanta. You were right in the heart of Atlanta it sounds like… did you/have you done UnderGround Atlanta before? if not- try it next time, along with Centenial Olympic Park. Next time also check out the World of Coke and the Aquarium there is also impressive I’ve heard. Dropped many groups off there and they’ve all said it’s great. I just don’t recommend downtown Atlanta after dark. Great pics though on the sons RV Blog.

  2. Todd,

As a homeschool promoting Dad, you must have had an interesting discussion with your kids telling them how President Carter started the Department of Education (not a big promoter of homeschooling last I knew) and appointed hundreds of judges that are still today keeping abortion legal accross the USA? How did you address these challenging issues with them?

  3. I sat in one of your sessions in Atlanta and I was moved by you Todd hopefully one day I can get where you are.

    Sincerely da’dad
