Blast Off 2011

Hey Dad,
We’re off!!! Or almost off. We’re packing like crazy to hit the road in the next couple of hours. We need to be in Montgomery, AL on Thursday. That gives a little wiggle room in case. I hate “in case.”

Don’t know how far we’ll get tonight. We won’t drive to hard. Maybe enjoy a family video in the first night on the road.

Right now it’s sunny..which is real good. Nothing like pulling out of the driveway when it’s gray and pouring down rain.

I think my wife’s head is about to explode with all the details to be taken care of before we go. My job is to remain calm and keep smiling.

By the way that’s your job as well. 🙂

Cal and Jed ready to rock and roll.

Sleeping gear stuffed for travel

  1. I get such a kick and such an emotional and spiritual lift from your columns. We met last year at the Oklahoma Homeschool Curriculum Fair. Being a public school teacher, preacher and fellow writer, I admire your ability to infuse your writings with humor and scriptural inspiration. Thanks, and best wishes on your travels.

  2. I have only recently found your site and resource. I find it helpful and encouraging. Just read your e-mail about National Pray for Dad Day. Boy do I need that (in more than one of the categories). Where will you go in Montgomery, AL? I live in Mobile, and may try to find a way meet you.

  3. Hi Todd,

Give Debbie a special hug from me. After all our years traveling with our kids to conventions, trying to remember all the details, trying to keep everybody happy, plus trying to figure out what to take for six months on the road, I understand what she’s going through.

Hope you’re reading a great book or two aloud. That always brought our family together. :>)

Help her remember God is in control…no matter what!

Love to all the Wilsons from all the Farewells!

    In Him,
    Tina

  4. Hi Todd, we met at Iron sharpens Iron about 4 or 5 years ago in Albany, NY. I just wanted to say to have a great trip and remember to “swing wide and watch your back side”. Please be careful and remember, ‘you da dad’ Dan.

  5. Have a safe trip! Been living in my RV since August now, and really loving it. Of course it is just my wife and I and our 17 month old grand daughter. Got a kick out of your pic of the sleeping gear. We raised 6, but not in an RV.
