Hot ‘n Sweaty in the Bayou
Whew, it’s humid down in the Bayou. Things have gone great so far. Not only have we met alot of great familymen, but we’ve seen some beautiful parts of the counrty.
In fact, one of my new favorite stretches of road is I-10 from Jacksonville, FL to Houston, TX. Not only does it stay close to the coast, but it’s just so differnt with great beaches and exotic bayous and people. If your driving it, make sure you get off on 90 and old 90 from Biloxi to New Orleans.
We did go to New Orleans but didn’t stay long. I was alittle afraid of “seeing” too much, but it felt safe and it was before lunch. We walked to Bourbon street but my kids whined most of the way, “What’s so neat about this?”
Next time we will do a little more homework about the area and take in a bayou tour and some crawdad serving eating places.
Next stop…Houston and then home for a little break. Then back on the road.
Until next time…swing wide and keep your eye on your tail.
Hey, I LOVE the highlighting the WalMart that you stayed at! I think that we will go through the back of our atlas and highlight all the ones that we stayed at last winter! Cool Idea! 🙂
Biloxi is pronounced Bill-lux-eee. I’m a former Mississippian. 😉
Dear Midwestern Dad, I was going to help you out with how to pronounce Bill-lux-eee, but I see that PaulP beat me to it. I so very much enjoy your family newsletter, blog, and videos. I share them with all my girlfriends, and they love them too! You da’ Dad!
Read about your beach debacle. Too bad. We (family of 7) lived in Florida for a while and Loved parking on the beach. Sad to learn about the trend.
Saw you in Houston for the first time and you hit on about every single thing I have gone through so far with my homeschooling experience. Hope you liked Houston, it’s hot but the winters are nice. Look forward to your weekly newsletters!
