Merry Christmas from the Wilsons

Merry Christmas from the Wilson house!! Instead of the usual rundown on each child, I’ve decided to give you a little glimpse of our home right now. In fact, if you were a little mouse, this is what you would see:

Abe (7) and Ike (9) are in some kind of wrestle mania cage match. They’re rolling around on the floor clutched in each other’s arms. I holler towards them and say, “Would you guys calm down?” to which they answer, “We are!”

Cal (2) is stripped to the waist (as he often is) sitting on the back of our big bear chair cheering on Abe and Ike in some kind of language known only to him. He’s a great communicator…although he doesn’t use real words.

Maggie (4) is sitting at the computer (which is very odd) looking at dolls on the American Girl Doll store website. She’s dressed in an elegant, blue, satin and velvet Christmas dress. She’s wearing it because it is the only thing that goes with her new, blue, plastic headband. In fact, last night she was almost in tears because she couldn’t think of anything to go with her new, blue, plastic headband.

Katherine (11) is reading a book, having left a mess of scissors and paper scraps on the table. She’s always doing a craft, making cookies, or sewing something. She’s really very talented…but needs a little work in the cleaning-up-afterwards department.

Ben (15) is reading a history book on something that fascinates him but would bore you to tears. If you were here, he’d probably tell you about it. It doesn’t show, but in his head he’s thinking about computer gadgets, MP3 players, flash drives, and terabytes.

Sam (13)…where is Sam? I don’t see him right now, but he’s probably upstairs drawing something on his notepad or computer. He’s created simple video games and is teaching himself ‘flash animation.’

Jed (10 mos.) is sleeping right now which is about the only time he isn’t moving. He walks about as much as he crawls and loves racing across the floor as fast as he can to find something that he can put in his mouth. He eats about as much dog food as our dog does…which doesn’t make our dog real fond of him.

Debbie, as beautiful as ever, is everywhere…homeschooling, keeping up with finances, selling stuff on Ebay, and Christmas shopping. I get tired just watching her.

As for me, I’m writing our 2008 Christmas letter while listening to a symphony of chaos and mayhem. But that’s our life. It’s not always easy…but it is good. And both Debbie and I are truly thankful to God.

We’re also thankful that you’re part of our lives.

Have a wonderful Christmas!

  1. Thanks for the snapshot of your family. I only have 2 boys, but from the description of your family it seems mine are not so abnormal or extrodinary as I thought. It’s good to know that we are “normal”! What ever that is!

  2. Awesome Family Picture!!!
We have 7 children – working on more! We are adoptive parents parents to the 4 younger ones and Lord Willing – welcoming more to our family soon! Our oldest is 29 youngest is 7! And CHRISTmas is a very busy and choatic time in the Kiessling houshold! Normal?? What is that? We should swap stories sometime – LOL!! But we have the time of our lives and 9 times out 10 – wouldn’t trade any of it for the world – right?

You, too have an AWESOME CHRISTmas!! <><
