Greetings from Harrisburg, PA

Hey Dad,

I continue to be amazed at how much ground you can cover in a week. We started last weekend in Oklahoma; we’re in Harrisburg, PA now, and next Friday, we’ll be in Billings, MT (we’re flying to that one).

All the travel didn’t allow for much sightseeing, but we were able to walk around Bricktown in Oklahoma City as well as tour the sight of the Oklahoma City Bombing.

Windy Oklahoma also claimed our RV awning as its own, and the boys and I had to cut ‘er loose in a Wal-Mart parking lot. We also experienced our first hailstorm in an RV. It was a little like being inside a popcorn popper and a bit frightening.

On our way out to Harrisburg, PA, we stopped in Zanesville, OH to tour the Longaberger Basket Company. I have to admit that this manly guy wasn’t super excited about a basket factory, but I was impressed by the whole process and ‘hugeness’ of the factory.

Today, we’re going to find some wireless INTERNET, visit the Pennsylvania State Museum, and find some sandals for Maggie.

About the only other news is that Abe (7) lost a tooth.

Hope all is well with your family and that you’re planning your own upcoming adventure. It won’t be easy…but it will be good.

Swing wide and keep your eye on your tail,

  1. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU…thank you all for being obedient to the call God has on your lives. So enjoyed getting to meet you in NM (although we didn’t get to go to any workshops, Louis and I worked Indoor Security – he had the black cowboy hat and orange vest on the whole time!) Anyway, I did get the whole convention on MP3 Player and have been listening… just finished Home Schooling But Still Married… THANK YOU !!! Keep up the good work, Blessings on your travels…sorry for the loss of your awning and hailstorm experience… eekkk ! When you come back to NM, maybe you can come camp at the ranch and see rural NM Ranch Life up close and personal! GodSpeed and Blessings to you all <>< 🙂

  2. Looking forword to seeing you and your family in Billings.
My “familyMan” hat is shabby from overuse…. need a new one.

  3. The Longaberger Basket factory is crazy. When we visited… I couldn’t believe that they did all of that just for some baskets… I trust that you were able to see the 5 story basket (national office). I still can’t believe all of that for a bunch of baskets. Only in America!

  4. Wow, you came through Zanesville and didn’t even stop to say “HI”.
    LOL

Did you see the famous “Y” Bridge in Zanesville? It is part of the Old National Trail(State Route US 40).

It’s fun to give people directions to go across the bridge. Yep,tell them to go to the “middle of the bridge” and then turn Right(or Left). The looks you get are just priceless.

The Longeraberger Company at one time had 8500 employees (Late 1990’s), now I believe it has only 2500. The Factory is located on State Route 16 and about 25-30 miles West Is where the offices for The Longaberger Company is located. The office building is a unique building. It is bulit in the form of a Basket.
    That’s Right
    a BASKET
It is 300 feet high (I believe). It starts out small and gets wider as it goes up(just like a woven basket). It even has handles on top of the buliding.( just like a basket) I will try to find a postcard for you.

  5. GLAD TO SEE YOU AND YOURS ARE DOING WELL.MY WIFE AND I WENT TO SEE HER DOC,SHE FINELY GOT HER BACK BRACE OFF .DOCTOR SAID SHE COULD EXERSIZE SO WE WENT WALKING AT OUR CHURCHS TRACK, THEN SHE SURPRISED ME WHEN SHE RAN HALF THE TRACK WELL MORE OF A SLOW JOG.BUT IT WAS STILL A SIGHT TO SEE AFTER 7 YEARS OF NOT BING ABLE TOO.JUST THOUGHT I WOULD SHARE SOME OF OUR GOOD FORTUNE WE OUR BLESSED.KEEP YOUR HEAD UP AND KEEP MOVING FORWARD THE LORD HAS YOUR BACK.

  6. Todd,
It was great having you at CHAP again this year.
You are always an encouragement and I appreciate your challenges to be a better husband and dad!
It was great to see your banner bug shield “You ‘da Dad” out in the parking lot. Kinda comforting that a fellow, understanding dad would be at the convention.
    Thank you again for encouragement!
