Cool Christmas Movie Locations

Hey Dad,

The kids and I were watching Ernest Saves Christmas the other night and I noticed several of the locations were filmed in one of my favorite towns, Orlando, FL. After a little investigation I found that sevral of them are close to my good friend Kevin F’s home!!!

That’s when I thought there should be a list of Christmas movie locations. PS – Not all these movies are Family Freindly…so check them out before you let the whole family watch.

Here it is:

A Christmas Story – 3159 W 11th St, Cleveland, OH. Click here to see my pilgrimage to the house used in the movie.

Home Alone – 671 Lincoln Ave, Winnetka, IL 60093. I visited Kevin McAlister’s home with my boys and so can you.

Home Alone 2 (Duncan’s Toy Chest) – The exterior is The Rookery building 209 S La Salle St, Chicago, IL, while the interior shots were filmed at the Uptown Theater.

While You Were Sleeping – Chicago. You can get all the filming location here. A couple of years back I visited the places with my wife. Click here to see the pix.

Miracle on 34th Street (1947 version) – It all took place in New York of course…but you can see the house that little Susan wanted at 24 Derby Road, at the northwest corner of Essex Court, Port Washington, in Nassau County, on the north shore of Long Island. You can visist the 1994 version house at 771 Washington Road, Lake Forest, IL

It’s a Wonderful Life – While most of the classic was filmed on a  studio back lot you can visit the gym over the pool at Beverly Hills High school and Martini’s House 4587 Viro Road in La Canada Flintridge, CA (You can learn more here)

The Santa Claus – Most of the street scenes were filmed in Oakville, Ontario…near Toronto. Get more info here. Good You Tube video here.

Ernest Saves Christmas – You can find most of the film locations in this article.

There you go. If you have more details…or the locations of some other great Christmas movie, let me know.
