Road Trip – RV Museum and Hall of Fame
Hey RVing Dad,
A few weeks ago my wife and I along with some of our children made the short trip to Elkhart, IN to tour the much talked about RV Hall of Fame Museum and Library. While we didn’t tour the library we spend a couple of hours wandering the Museum and were blown away by the quality of the displays and wave of nostalgia that accompanied each RV on display.
The facility is new and immense, and each RV is tastefully displayed. What amazed me was that they were not all restored to pristine, factory showroom appearance. In fact, most of them looked and smelled like the owners might returned any minute to hit the open road.
As you tour the museum you meander from some of the very first recreational vehicles up to modern day wonders. You see the evolution of RVs from custom made units constructed in garages with wood and canvas to factory assembled units with orange shag carpeting and build in chrome appliances.
To any Rver or RVer wanna-be it’s fascinating as well as inspiring.
The Museum is conveniently located just off the Indiana toll road and the prices are reasonable (did I mention the fantastic gift shop?).
So take a stroll down memory lane when the pace was a little slower, technology was lacking, and the open road was still the best place to be with your family and visit the RV Hall of Fame and Museum.
Swing wide and keep an eye on your tail,
Here’s a little sample of what you’ll see…
