On Your Mark, Get Set Go!!!!

Hey Dad,

Well, after a rough Christmas and New Year’s, we’re on the other side of 2014. I wish I was a little more eager to start the new year, but hey, that’s the dad-life.

I know right now in central Indiana my sister-in-law is perkily tackling the new year with her list of resolutions. She loves the idea of being better, new habits, and changing old ones. Not me…I kind of like the old stuff. BUT I know I need changing and some new habits. In fact, we got a little lazy over the last month.

Here’s the deal: I’ve decided that I’m not telling anyone my resolutions this year. I’m not going to proclaim any grand plans or say, “This year we’re going to do….” I’ve earned a reputation of saying but not carrying out. I’m tired of that, and so is my family.

This year, I’m just going to quietly work on some things. Nothing big…but I’m going to keep silent about them.

So, Dad, if you’ve got some shoring up or rearranging to do…do it. Just don’t tell anyone.
