Decision Making and the Will of Todd

Hey Dad,
Just got back from a great weekend at the Father/Daughter Retreat in Tampa, FL. It was awesome being with my daughters and with other dads and their daughters from all over the country. Dad, can I encourage you to make a mental note to attend next year’s event? It is a never-to-be-forgotten weekend.
Moving on…a couple of weeks ago I was talking to my brother-in-law about a job change. I could tell it weighed heavily on him, and more than once he sighed as he felt burdened by making the right decision. We talked back and forth awhile and then towards the end of our conversation, he said something like, “I wish there was a manual for making decisions.
That got me thinking, I should write a manual for decision making. So here it is:
The Familyman’s Guide to Decision Making (as it pertains to job choices)
1. Take the job that is better for your family.
2. If you don’t know which is better, ask your children and/or wife (they’ll know).
3. Strike while the iron is hot. The longer you wait to do what is right, the greater the chances you’ll do what is wrong.
4. Always obey rule #1.
Ok, that was short and sweet, but therein lies the secret to decision making and the will of Todd. When weighing a job decision, ALWAYS take the job that is better for your family. It’s not about more money, a better job title, or career advancement…take the job that is better for your family and will allow you to be home more often and  less distracted.
Warning: it’s dangerous to think, “I’ll make family sacrifices now so I can have more family rewards later.” You are not promised a future anything. Do not make family sacrifices today for…anything!!
I know it can be scary, but trust God and follow rule #1.
You ‘da dad,
