Out of the Christmas Starting Gate!!!!!

Hey Dad,

The bell has sounded and the race is on…to Christmas!!!

I can’t believe we have a little over three weeks until the big day. Now, I know you know…that I know all there is about the greatest season of the year for families, but this weekend I learned a little bit more. I already told you we went to see Frozen on Thanksgiving night…and we had a blast. What I didn’t tell you…but am now, is that we went again last night!! That’s right, the same movie twice in just a few days. That’s the Christmas lesson that I learned – lead with your heart and be spontaneous.

Oh, I know it didn’t make sense…but it felt splurgish, and we splurged. It was wonderful. Oh, yeah the movie was good, but the best part is that we had an adventure as a family. Those kinds of adventures are not soon forgotten.

The thing is, you can’t plan for those times, you just have to be there when they happen. I’m thinking they look like this:

– You watch a great video at home…and then say, “Let’s watch another.”

– You get donuts just because the morning feels like it.

– you order pizza for a midnight snack

– You drop in on a family in your pjs.

– You get the tallest Christmas tree you can find

– You drop $10 in the Salvation Army Bucket

– You stay up late on a Tuesday!!!

– You sleep in on a Saturday…and then watch old Christmas movies.

– You hug your kids and wife a dozen times in one day.

and the list goes on.
