Me and Mr. Graham
Hey Dad,
Something you probably didn’t know about me is…I share a birthday with Billy Graham. Of course at 95 he’s a bit older than the 49 years I’ll be celebrating on the 7th. Tomorrow he’ll be sharing a message on TV (I think). If I remember in the midst of all my birthday celebrating I’d like to watch it with my children. I know what the message will be…It’s still about the cross.
That’s Mr. Graham. I’ll never forget when he spoke at the televised funeral of President Richard Nixon. I bet there were five presidents sitting in the front row, the room was filled with news media, and millions of people watched from their homes…and Billy told them about Jesus…not just about the love of God but about salvation through Christ alone. Wow.
My birthday celebration may not be as grand as his…but I plan to have fun with my family. That’s what I look forward to most. Just a time where all of us can gather together to laugh and do something special. Actually, my favorite birthday dinner place has become Logan’s Roadhouse. The food is good, it feels warm…and they’ve got peanuts, which we crunch and consume by the bucket loads.
I love family times…especially if I don’t set me hopes too high. You know, like it should be fun. That’s when I get mad because they ruined my expectations. No, I’m just going to enjoy being with the people I love the most. I can’t imagine a better birthday.
If you have a birthday coming up, Dad…make it a good one.
Todd
PS – Stop and pray for Mr. Graham that he would finish well.
Happy, Happy, Happy Birthday, Todd!!!
from the Moores! 🙂
