Old Dads and OLD Video Games
Right now I’m working on a NEW companion work book for kids based on my little booklet Taming the Techno-Beast. As I was putting it together I was reminded again of all those early video games…like PONG and Pac Man and the thrill of their realistic graphics. I even found a place where you can even play the old games right on your computer.
Anyway, I was wondering…what was your favorite early video game from your youth?
You ‘da OLD dad,
Todd
Galaga. There was a cheat that prevent the aliens from shooting at you.
I was a fan of Contra. My friend showed me how to get 30 lives instead of the normal 3 to start the game with. Had a lot of fun times with friends playing that game when I was younger.
I’m with both Phil and Jamie: I spent way too much time playing Contra and Galaga. Also, Super Tecmo Bowl and Dr. Mario.
Had to be Contra, Super Techmo Bowl, Double Dribble. Lots of afternoons after school playing those.
BattleZone
What is battlezone? Tanks that went around walls and blasted each other?
Who can forget, UP,UP, DOWN, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT RIGHT, B, A, SELECT, START!! Classics! Shirts available here — http://www.cafepress.ca/+up-up-down-down-left-right-left-right-b-a-select-s+gifts 🙂
Galaga, Qbert, Tetris and Super Mario Brothers were all on my tops of my play list. Didn’t get into Super Techmo Bowl until the early 90s. Original NES all the way!!!
I forgot about Qbert!!
My neighbor and I both had Atari and we decided to never buy the same games so we could share. Otherwise, I spent a lot of quarters on Robotron, Galaga and pinball !
Does anybody remember Pitfall for the Atari? Pure awesomeness!
One of the best games when I’m young 🙂
