MY “A Christmas Story” House Visit

I was speaking in Cleveland last night and went a little early to visit A Christmas Story House…featured in the holiday classic “A Christmas Story.” To get a flavor for my visit, watch the videos from top to bottom. Now, this movie comes from my pre-family days and there are some words that are not family friendly. I’d preview and have your mute button handy.

Here are some more photos —

The view from the street.

“Skunked again!”

The old man’s major award.

Here’s where we met the leg lamp.

Beware of soap poinsoning…and it’s Lifeboy!!

Who can forget the battle with Black Bart…and the shed where Ralphie almost shot his eye out?

The street where Ralphie, Shwartz, and Flik meet…and where Randy gets knocked over.

Higbees!!!!!!!

Ralphie and his family walk through these door to me Santa.

  1. That’s awesome!!! I never realized that it was filmed in Cleveland. Definitely going to have to go there since it’s only about 3.5 hours from us. Thanks for the “tour”.

  2. You should preview it first. I grew to love it before I had a family and my ‘grid’ was different then. My kids have not seen the movie…but if they did I think I could mute it when needed.

  3. Was in Ohio this summer doing “family” things and spent 30 minutes driving around downtown Cleveland in a torrential downpour looking for this house. Never did find it. My biggest disappointment of the trip. I’ll get directions from you next time. Probably will be 20 years before I make it up there again.

  4. Get a CLEARPLAY. It is an amazing lifesaver and does the muting and editing for you. I am no longer afraid to let my son watch a PG movie

  5. Hey Todd, wow, now that I see the pix and vids, so sorry I didn’t invite myself to tag along! Also, I’m real glad you didn’t get mugged in that part of town! Glad to see images from the highlight of your Cleveland trip! 😉

  6. Isn’t the actual story supposed to take place in Northern Indiana? I always imagined Gary or some place like that.
