Huntsville, AL – Rocket Museum
OK, I’ll shoot straight with you…the Huntsville Rocket Center is cool…but I’m not sure it’s as cool as it costs. I know we had several Alabama people tell us that it was awesome…and part of it were, but for the money the Dayton Air museum (which is free) is heads and tails above it (Sorry Bama people). We did have fun and the rockets were huge!!!
Only cool when you get the yearly membership. Glad you all could go, stay safe!
Welcome to Alabama! I am the one who sent you the Alabama plate! We do Scouting trips to the Huntsville Space and Rocket Center. The place is awesome, especially if you get to camp out there overnight, which is what we did. Happy traveling! (We are in Leeds,AL which is close to B’ham)
I agree – the US Air Force Museum in Dayton ROCKS. We’ve been several times (we live in Columbus, so it’s not too far) and this past time, two weeks ago, we got in on the special tour of the presidential aircraft (including Air Force One) and experimental craft. It’s a free tour as well — you just need to be there early enough to grab a ticket. If you didn’t get to see it this time, I highly recommend it for the future!
We visited the Huntsville space museum for free this summer, as it was included with an annual membership to the McWayne Science museum in Birmingham. The cost of the annual for a family of 8 was reasonable and includes several more museums nationwide. So the Huntsville museum tipped the savings in our favor. And then the Rockets are really worth the trip!
