The Familyman Mobile is out of Mothballs
Well, it’s always thrilling (and relieving) to turn the key and hear the Familyman Mobile roar to life. I couldn’t have asked for a nicer day, and I backed the old gal next to the house and have begun the long list of things I need to do before we hit the road.
I was a little surprised by the amount of mouse droppings in the drawers and even on the counter tops. This was the first year I parked it away from the house, and I guess the mice felt safer away from Wilson activity. I spread a box full of fabirc softener sheets all over the RV with little effect (RV urban legend). There were even a few mouse droppings ON one of the softener sheets. So much for that idea.
Here’s a list of things I need to do:
- Fix ‘new’ mysterious leak on roof
- Replace interior A/C trim
- Clean out cabinets
- check out engine temp. warning light
- trouble shoot back up camera (dim/fading screen)
- Fix shower curtain divider
- de-winterize RV
- replace racks in fridge (see RV fridge repair guy)
- check out furnace (doesn’t want to ignite when damp)
- build rail for upper bunk (Abe fell out and still has a scar on the back of his head from last year’s tumble)
- change oil (25 quarts and a filter the size of a Rhode Island)
- look into LED replacement bulbs for bunk-bed reading lamps
- get 12 volt extension cord
- lube and check underside of RV
- Fix trailer wiring
Shoo…makes me tired just listing them. I’ve got about three weeks to get them fixed. Sure appreciate your prayers for this familyman during our travels. It can be migthy stressful.
I’ve heard the fabric sheets have to be the right brand to keep mice at bay. However, not sure of brand name.
I thought LED bulbs never burned out… Must be another bulb legend.
Looking forward to seeing you in Ohio @ the home schoolers convention.
Hey Todd
Sorry to hear at you got to do a lot of work to the house on wheel. I guess that is the price we pay in owning a RV. Happy RVing this year.
