Parking-ArticleHey Dad,

I’m writing this to calm my own nerves. In just over a week my oldest son, Ben is getting married. I know plenty of dads have tread this path before me, but it’s a big deal for us…especially since it’s at my house.

Actually, I feel a little calm like most of the work is done…but there must be something I haven’t thought about...like how to park cars for 478 people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We made plans for all those cars (I think), but you just don’t know until they show up how it’s going to play out. I guess i’ve been try to heed the advice of a friend of ours. She wrote Debbie and email the other day and closed by saying something like, “Enjoy the journey because the destination is brief.”

What I think she meant was the event itself doesn’t last long. The joy is in the preparation AND the memory. So I guess what happens will happen and I’m just supposed to enjoy the time leading up to it.

I’m guessing you have something coming up that may be stressing you out. Heed Vicki’s advice, “Enjoy the journey.”

You ‘da dad,

Todd

  2. What a blessing a wedding is! Best wishes for a beautiful day and may God richly bless the bride and groom!

  3. Yes, the final destination day goes quickly, so enjoy every moment. Congratulations on gaining a daughter!

  4. WOW——-We still remember a very young (but very mature) Ben taking care of your booth at the CHEO Convention in Ohio……and now he is getting MARRIED!!!!

So, how many acres did you say that you have?
478 People—-Do you plan to have Shuttle Buses from a Park and Ride (or a nearby WALMART)?
Restrooms—-Do you plan to have Port-A-Potties (this might be a must)?
Don’t forget to have lots of toilet paper on hand….100 rolls for starters!!!
Don’t worry as the parents of the Bridegroom—your JOB is easy—you just have to take care of the Rehersal Dinner (except for the small part of having the Wedding at YOUR HOUSE)!!!!
And don’t worry if you do forget something
(it won’t be a real wedding if you didn’t)
    just keep smiling—-cause
    YOU’ DA DAD

Father, please allow great weather for this Blessed Event and give Todd and Debbie the strength to get through it !!!!! AMEN
