The Last of the Firsts

Hey Dad,

It’s kind of a bitter-sweet day. Jed (6) lost his very first tooth. he’s been working on it for a couple of weeks and this jed without a toothmorning my brave wife yanked it.

As I congratulated my proud son it hit me that we were experiencing our last-first. He was our last child to loose a first tooth. There will be no more…and that’s sad to me.

Even sadder is that the other last-firsts will be showing up before I like it. The last child to be a teenager, get their driver’s license, to move out of our house. Gulp!

I’m telling you, a guy like me is tempted to mourn the fact of the last-firsts…but I think I’ll just enjoy today instead. It’s all part of God’s plan, and it’s a good plan.

So won’t you thank God with me for the last-firsts?!

You ‘da dad,

  1. Todd, God blessed us with a single child, but he’s our ‘Sunshine Boy.’ I know how you feel because I experience this on a daily basis & work hard to keep every precious memory!! Enjoy every moment.
