Ben and Rissa’s Wedding

Hey Dad,

Well…we made it. My oldest son, Ben married Rissa and right now they’re on their second day of their honeymoon.

Let me just say, Thank you. Thank you for asking God to grant us a rain-free evening. In fact, the day before and the day of the wedding were PERFECT. Not too hot…perfect shade…dappled light…and the PARKING wet great!!!

I’m telling you it couldn’t have been more perfect for all involved. I think people expected my wife and I to be emotional messes, but it didn’t feel sad. It felt right and joyous, and I didn’t even get the lump in my throat.

I basked in my role as the dad. It was about Ben and Rissa and I played a secondary role and I loved it. I was there to make sure things worked, people felt included, and my son and his wife had a great wedding. When it was all over and the tables and chairs were put away and the last person drove away I finally found some dinner and ate alone on the pack porch, munching on left over cheese cubes, stale potato chips and a left over sub-sandwich. It was dark and quiet…and as I ate I felt FULL. In fact, that’s the word I keep using to describe how I feel.

I feel FULL, RICH, BLESSED…OVERFLOWING…GRATEFUL.

I feel glad to be a dad…glad to be on the same team as you.

Here are a few pictures to give you a little glimpse of our wonderful evening (I’ll probably add to it as I collect more pictures and videos).

I’m tired.

Glad to be ‘da dad,

Todd

  1. My compliments to the photographer, he has captured many happy great memories of the day, for many years to come!

I love the black and white photo. You could use it as a postcard and put the words (under the tree branch) “Happy 1st Anniversary, love Mom and Dad.”

The picture of the weeping willow, with them at the bottom, looks like a picture on the front of a card from Hallmark.

The side picture looks like they are looking off into the future together…..

All of them are great pictures! Dawn and I look forward to seeing more. 🙂
