Good-bye to an Old Friend

Well, after a long wait and amidst the worst time in the world to sell an RV, we’ve sold the Familyman Mobile 2. It was kind of sad as fellow familyman Kris Ruble pulled out of my driveway.

After all, we’ve had a lot of great memories in FM2…including multiple towings, a turkey that flew through the windshield, gashing a Mercedes, getting lost in Boston, and traversing chunks of the great old USA. In fact, one of my children got his start in FM2. I know it is just an RV, but it sure holds a lot of great memories for our family, and I’m sure it will do the same for the Ruble’s.

  1. I know how you feel. Earlier this year I sold our boat. Keep in mind the first date with my wife was on the boat. My children even cried when we sold it. But after a few weeks of disorientation we began to realize that it is just stuff. Now God has provided an opportunity to rent a boat regularly and the cost and time is more manageable.

    Blessings!

  2. My husband ran across your blog when surfing and we were intrigued. Sending your blog address to people we know who are familiar with home schooling. We are newly retired full time RVer’s. Will keep watching for you out there! God speed.

Whether you celebrate the holidays within crackling distance of your fireplace or in a balmy RV campground, you’ll almost certainly unwrap a gift or two. The following list of gifts for RVers is meant to make everyone’s holiday season a little warmer.

Kingston–18 deck platform by Sunrise Decks ($899, plus shipping; website http://www.janicegrant.com/rvdecks.html , 503.432.3912). As we age, many of us find negotiating the steps in and out of our rig to be increasingly troublesome. Perhaps no present says “I love you” more than a Sunrise Deck, since these well-designed and portable stairs and platforms protect us from injury by easing our up-and-down burdens. Each Sunrise Deck grants safer access to everyone, especially people with disabilities, and is quick to assemble.
